The Great British Business Show – Part 3
We’re back for the final part of our series on our experience at the Great British Business Show. It’s been a week since we returned and we’ve spent that time evaluating our experience in depth and if our time spent at the show was a success.
How do we think the show went?
The novelty of the show may have worn off a little, but judging by the huge number of conversations we had with so many wonderful people, we not only informed a great number of businesses of the importance of call management but we have learned a lot that we can use to improve SwitchboardFREE and make it even better for our customers.
Did we achieve what we wanted to achieve?
In the main, we did achieve what we set out to achieve. We reached a large number of businesses and increased the level of awareness amongst new businesses about the importance of good call management.
Where we really exceeded our goals was in learning about other new businesses and what kind of features they would want from SwitchboardFREE going forward. We have learned a great deal that will help improve our service for new customers and old ones alike, all thanks to direct interaction with people at the Show.
Would we do it again?
The truth is that we would love to do it again. But would we in reality…?
When you factor in the cost of exhibiting, the cost of putting together marketing materials and then the time it took to prepare, travel to and set up at the show, then it is unlikely that we will be returning to the Great British Business Show in the future. We analysed our web traffic, and it may be too early to tell but the data does not match our experience at the event and we did not see growth in the areas we hoped. For us, there will be other events that will be more cost-effective for the business to help achieve our sales and marketing goals.
It was a fantastic learning experience, we really gained insight from direct interaction with our customers and visitors and will take this with us.
What do you think?
So that was our experience at the British Business Show. We hope that our experience will help you make up your mind as to whether or not to attend or exhibit in the future.
If you have exhibited/attended before, what was your experience like? Do you have any interesting stories that you would like to share or maybe you have some information that would be useful to other people thinking of attending or exhibiting at the Great British Business Show in the future.
